Ramadan 1441H – 2020 Update | COVID-19 Precautionary Measures

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Dear Community Members

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahumatu Allahi Wa Barakatuh

“يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِين”

(O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient)

First of all, I would like to congratulate and commend you all on your understanding and effective compliance with the Australian Government guidelines on the current pandemic. After extensive review, consultations within the HDMS Shura and Shaikh Saleh Gahit on the prevailing situation,

I wish to advise you the following:

Daily and Friday Prayers

The decision to not conduct any daily and Friday congregational prayers will be continued until further advice from the Australian Government.

Taraweeh Prayers

HDMS is unable to offer Taraweeh prayers this Ramadan. However, we emphasize that we all aim to pray Taraweeh at home.

To uplift the Ramadan spirit, we have organized a daily Ramadan talk at 8.00 pm every night. The duration of these talks will be 20 to 30 minutes. These talks will reach you via Zoom Meetings (https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362193-Joining-a-Meeting) and or any other appropriate app. These talks will be presented by Shaikh Saleh Gahit, Dr. Karim Ibrahim, Shaikh Farhan Khalil, and inshallah aims to benefit the entire family members. Please visit the HDMS website for further details on how to participate.

Eid Prayers

HDMS will not organize any congregational Eid prayers this year.  If the Australian Government lifts the current restrictions prior to Eid, we will then provide further details about the date, timings, venue, etc.

Commencement of Ramadan

Sightings of the moon will be conducted tonight Australia wide and result will be conveyed to all registered HDMS community members via email and text messages, the said information will also be updated on our website, https://hdms.org.au. If the moon is sighted, then the members should commence Taraweeh from tonight and the first day of fast will be on Friday the 24th of April 2020. If the moon is not sighted tonight, the Taraweeh will commence on Friday evening and Saturday the 25th of April 2020 will be the first day of fast.

Community Members who wish to follow the Calculation Method

Australian National Imam Council has already announced Thursday 23rd April as the first night of Taraweeh and Friday 24th April as the first day of fasting for this Ramadan.

While HDMS follows monsighting, we wish to acknowledge, understand and respect the Imams and Scholars who may hold different opinions. We also respect and will keep contimue our endeavours to facilitate our members who follows calculation method for the commencement of Ramadan.

We call upon all of our respected community members that inspite of all the prevailing odds, to preserve and enhance their supplications and fastings to the highest possible level. Extend prayers for the protection from this global pandemic for all the muslims and entire global community.

I also request you to not to forget and pray to Allah SWT, the almighty for the success and early completion of our masjid project .
